During Jim Harbaugh’s nine-season tenure with the Wolverines, recruiting was not emphasized much in Ann Arbor. However, with Sherrone Moore at the helm, fans are expecting a boom in Michigan football recruiting efforts, and that could start by locking in an official visit with an elite five-star target in the class of 2025: Florida cornerback DJ Pickett.

The latest intel from the On3’s Chad Simmons shows that Michigan football still has some interest from five-star cornerback DJ Pickett, one of the nation’s elite recruits who boasts offers from most major programs. So far, only four programs have locked in an official visit from Pickett: LSU, Miami, Oregon, and Georgia; however, it appears that the Wolverines are expected to get an official as well.

So far, following a few de-commits, Michigan football ranks 26th nationally in the current composite 2025 recruiting rankings. That said, Sherrone Moore and his staff have plenty of time to get that ranking up, especially if they can show immediate success throughout the coming 2024 season.

Per the On3 Rankings, DJ Pickett is a five-star cornerback hailing from Zephyrhills, FL; he ranks as the No. 4 overall prospect nationally, the No. 1 cornerback in the country, and he is the No. 1 player in the state of Florida for the 2025 cycle. Needless to say, if Michigan football recruiting can get him to Ann Arbor and make an impression, it could be huge for Moore and his Wolverines down the stretch.
