After six years of falling short, Michigan football finally turned things around in 2021. How? The Wolverines dominated in the trenches and forced their opponents into a physical slugfest — it led to three Big Ten titles, a Rose Bowl victory, and a National Championship before Jim Harbaugh left. Now, it looks like Michigan is pushing for a new elite 2025 recruiting target: David Sanders of North Carolina, the No. 1 offensive lineman in the country.

Michigan football remains in the mix for this elite 2025 recruiting target

David Sanders is a highly sought-after recruiting target around the country, and it’s not hard to tell why. Sanders, a now-former teammate of Michigan football quarterback Jadyn Davis, is the No. 1 offensive lineman prospect in the country and the No. 2 overall recruit nationally.

While Michigan football remains without an official visit, for the time being, they are one of a few teams that On3 expects Chad Simmons says is “in the mix” for Sanders with the 2025 recruiting class coming to the forefront of the college football world this summer.

“Georgia and Tennessee should host Sanders for a spring practice as well and it would be surprising if the Bulldogs and Vols don’t receive an official visit,” writes Simmons, a top college football recruiting expert. “Ohio State is another school that seems to be high on his list. Alabama, Michigan, and North Carolina are others in the mix. Each visit in the spring and summer will be important because Sanders plans to make a decision before his senior year begins.”

Expect Michigan to push for David Sanders this summer

Seeing as Michigan football has a reputation for being “O-Line U,” as well as Sanders’ many ties to the Wolverines’ program (through current players and his high school coaches), don’t be shocked if Sherrone Moore and Michigan make a huge late push for this elite offensive line target.
