Throughout the summer, Michigan football recruiting news is bound to pick up as we enter the bulk of the official visit season. Right now, the Wolverines are reportedly in the midst of scheduling a visit for one of their top recruiting targets in the 2024 class, Texas running back Taylor Tatum. While no date has been set just yet, reports state that Tatum is confident about making it out to Ann Arbor — perhaps sometime in June or so.
Michigan football recruiting looking to schedule Taylor Tatum on an official visit
Taylor Tatum remains one of the top targets for Michigan football in the 2024 recruiting class. Over the past few months, the Wolverines have been gaining significant momentum in his recruitment, making him a major national target.
According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, USC currently leads in Tatum’s recruitment heading into the summer, with a 24.1% chance of securing his commitment.
Tatum is highly sought-after and rightfully so. He is a four-star running back according to the 247 Sports composite rankings, ranked as the No. 33 recruit in the nation, the No. 2 running back in his class, and the No. 6 recruit in the state of Texas.
If Tatum decides to commit to Michigan football, he would be the second Texas recruit in this class to join the Maize and Blue, following Blake Frazier, a legacy recruit and four-star offensive tackle who committed earlier in the cycle.
Currently, Michigan football is the only school with a crystal ball prediction on 247 Sports, favoring them. The prediction was made by a Texas insider, so its validity should be considered. While no specific visit date has been set, reports suggest that Tatum is confident about making an official visit to Ann Arbor during the summer.
If this visit indeed takes place, it could serve as an excellent indication of the strength of the Wolverines’ 2024 recruiting class. Jim Harbaugh’s 2024 class is already ranked at the top nationally, but in order to maintain that position, Michigan football recruiting needs to stay active and successful throughout the lengthy offseason.
