With the Wolverines moving on to the national championship, Michigan football has been trying to capitalize in the recruiting game. However, the Wolverines just missed on a major five-star quarterback recruit who was once predicted to Michigan football. Yesterday, quarterback Bryce Underwood, who played high school football just 30 minutes from Ann Arbor, announced his commitment to the LSU Tigers.
Michigan Football Recruiting Target Bryce Underwood Commits To LSU
Just last year, Michigan football appeared to be in the lead for five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood. Currently, Underwood holds the consensus No. 1 ranking in the 2025 recruiting class.
Last season, Underwood threw for 3,405 yards, 42 touchdowns, and just three interceptions. He holds a 40-2 record as the starter at Belleville High School.
In recent months, Michigan football recruiting lost momentum for Underwood and new programs like Colorado and LSU started to take the lead. Yesterday, Underwood finally announced his commitment to be an LSU Tiger.
The recruiting loss is a tough one for the Wolverines, but the future at quarterback is still bright. Michigan has rising stars Alex Orji, Jayden Denegal, and Jadyn Davis all waiting in the wings. In addition, the Wolverines already have blue-chip quarterback recruit Carter Smith committed from the 2025 class.
