This weekend, a major Michigan football recruiting target will be in Ann Arbor for his first visit with Sherrone Moore as head coach. Rowan Byrne, a four-star offensive lineman out of Iona Prep (and the No. 1 player in the state of New York), is visiting with the Wolverines.

Sherrone Moore is going to emphasize the Wolverines’ recruiting efforts now that he is the head coach. This weekend, he has a chance to do just that with a position group that has meant more to Michigan football over the years than any other: offensive line.

Rowan Byrne, a four-star offensive tackle, is a major target for a number of the Big Ten’s top programs; however, seeing as Michigan is coming off of a National Championship-winning season, largely due to its elite offensive line play, it’s safe to say that the Wolverines have some solid interest here.

Per the On3 rankings, Byrne is the No. 242 player nationally, the No. 15 offensive tackle in the 2025 recruiting class, and the No. 1 player in the state of New York.

The Recruiting Prediction Machine lists programs like Rutgers, Penn State, Notre Dame, and others as top contenders right now, with Michigan football firmly in the mix. On top of that, this weekend will be the fourth time that the four-star offensive lineman has made the trip to Ann Arbor, putting the Wolverines just one visit behind Penn State and Rutgers (five each).
