This morning, new photos of a man resembling suspended Michigan staffer Connor Stalions surfaced on social media and more, prompting Central Michigan University to open a school-led investigation. The images date back to September 1st, the night before the Wolverines’ first game of the year, when the Chips took on Michigan State in East Lansing. This is yet another insane twist in the Michigan football scandal regarding alleged sign-stealing.
Michigan football scandal could see another major twist
Per new reports, Central Michigan has opened an investigation into photos of a man that resembles now-suspended Michigan football staffer Connor Stalions on the sidelines of their game against Michigan State back in September. Obviously, Stalions is currently in some hot water — at least in the public eye — due to his alleged sign-stealing network.
The man in the photo has hair and a beard — Connor Stalions had neither the next day when Michigan football faced East Carolina in its season-opener. Still, CMU is taking this seriously and is looking into the man, who is wearing a “VB” (visiting bench) sideline pass in the photo of him from September 1st. These passes are limited and only given to players, coaches, trainers and equipment staff — if this is Stalions, more questions will be raised about how he got a pass.
According to MGoBlog, the man in the photo (below) is Connor Stalions; however, there has been a great deal of pushback from social media on the identity of the man shown.
From ESPN’s report on Connor Stalions’ potential involvement in the MSU-CMU football game:
Michigan State is aware of Stalions’ potential presence at the opener, and sources at MSU told ESPN that the school is discussing potential next steps and is prepared to cooperate with the any formal investigation that arises from this.
Additionally, Central Michigan gave this statement when prompted about its investigation into Stalions’ potential involvement in the Michigan State game:
“We are in the process of determining the facts surrounding them (the photos),” reads the statement from CMU athletic director Amy Folan. “As this process is ongoing, we have no further comment at this time.”
If the man pictured is, in fact, Connor Stalions, the sign-stealing investigation just took another shocking turn.
