Michigan football snubbed in latest Big Ten power rankings

Jim Harbaugh has beat the Buckeyes and won the Big Ten championship in back-to-back seasons. Still, media outlets continue to rank Ohio State football higher than the Wolverines in their 2023 predictions. Most recently, Michigan football was snubbed in the latest Big Ten power rankings from Pro Football Focus.

Michigan football snubbed in PFF Big Ten Power Rankings for 2023

The Big Ten is going to be a very strong conference in 2023. Multiple teams are slated to have huge seasons, namely Penn State, Ohio State, Illinois, and Wisconsin. While Michigan is up against some heavy competition, it doesn’t erase the fact that the Wolverines have proven they are the best team in the Big Ten by winning the conference title two years in a row.

Still, Pro Football Focus recently released their Big Ten Power rankings for 2023 and ranked Ohio State ahead of Michigan football.

In addition to outperforming the Buckeyes in 2022, the Wolverines are returning a lot more key players. Michigan football will retain the bulk of their offensive talent while the Buckeyes will be entering 2023 with a new quarterback.

Michigan won two more games than the Buckeyes in 2022. The Wolverines should be viewed as favorites to defeat Ohio State in 2023, not underdogs. If J.J. McCarthy can win his second game against Ohio State in 2023, Michigan football may finally gain the recognition they deserve as the better team.
