ANN ARBOR, MI — On Thursday, reports confirmed that the Michigan Wolverines’ standout defensive back is currently not practicing. Will Johnson — one of the Wolverines’ top defenders — is said to be out for the time being. This is not the best news for Michigan football fans heading into the spring game next month.
Reports confirm that Michigan football standout Will Johnson is not practicing
According to Alejandro Zúñiga of The Michigan Insider, fellow defensive back Amorion Walker — who was just moved from wide receiver to defensive back this spring — confirmed to the press on Thursday that Michigan’s top defensive back (and one of the best defenders in the country) is not practicing.
That being said, no reason was listed as to why Will Johnson is not practicing — reasons could be serious or mild such as injury or a simple sickness. Our best guess, and this is all speculation, is that Johnson suffered a minor injury such as a tweak, and the Wolverines decided to play it safe by not practicing him leading up to Michigan’s spring game on April 1st.
For now, this is nothing for Michigan football fans to freak out about; however, it is definitely a storyline to keep an eye on throughout the remainder pf spring ball. If Johnson does happen to be out indefinitely, that would be a massive blow to Michigan’s defense heading into the 2023 season this fall.
