Recently, Athlon Sports released its preseason All-American list ahead of the 2023 college football season. This fall is expected to be a major year for Michigan football, who have come close to playing for a national title in consecutive years but fell just short on both occasions. Blake Corum, the Wolverines’ only preseason All-American, is currently recovering from an injury and reportedly feels better than ever.
Michigan football star Blake Corum earns All-American honors
During the 2022 season, Blake Corum only appeared in 10.5 games for Michigan football. However, he nearly became a Heisman Trophy candidate for the Wolverines. Despite finishing in 7th place, he ran for over 100 yards in every Big Ten game he was healthy for and accumulated over 140 yards in less than a half against Illinois, a team with a top 3 defense at the time.
In total, Michigan football star running back Blake Corum ran for nearly 1,500 yards and 18 touchdowns, leading the Wolverines to an 11-0 start. Michigan football won their next two games, both significant victories against top competition, before falling short by 6 points in the College Football Playoff semi-final against TCU without Corum’s talents.
According to Athlon Sports, Corum is a preseason All-American, a well-deserved recognition. He was also a post-season All-American in 2022 and won the Big Ten’s Silver Football, awarded to the conference’s most impactful player. In 2021, the award was given to edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson, who was also a standout player for the Maize and Blue.
With his knee injury healed and a strong determination to win a national title, expect Michigan football star Blake Corum to earn All-American honors once again this fall as he leaves his mark on the Wolverines’ history books.
