LOS ANGELES — Earlier today, I had a chance to speak with Michigan football star wide receiver Roman Wilson, a senior for the Maize and Blue, about the College Football Playoff and his coming NFL Draft decision. According to Wilson, the outcome of the Rose Bowl and playoff may influence his draft decision, similar to what quarterback JJ McCarthy told us after the Wolverines’ third straight Big Ten Championship victory earlier this month.

Roman Wilson had a massive breakout season this fall, catching 41 passes for 662 yards and 11 touchdowns heading into the Rose Bowl game. While Wilson has outperformed expectations this fall, he is not rated super high on many NFL Draft boards right now.
“I’ve definitely thought about (the NFL Draft),” he told me on Friday. “You know, I have both options, so no timetable. I’m just focused on (the Rose Bowl).
“In the receiver room, we call these games ‘money games,'” Roman Wilson added, talking about the College Football Playoff semi-final against Bama. “(Alabama) has a lot of good DBs, they’re going to get drafted too, so for both of us it’s (a money game).”

Roman Wilson and other Michigan football star players — such as JJ McCarthy, Donovan Edwards, and many more — will have a crucial NFL Draft decisions to make after the Wolverines’ CFP run this fall. While it sounds like a number of the team’s top players are considering a return, it is quite hard to tell where these decisions stand heading into the Rose Bowl, though it feels safe to say that the Alabama game could influence some decisions in a major way.
