Heading into the 2023 season, NIL is becoming increasingly prominent in the world of college football. For Michigan football star Blake Corum, who isn’t doing too badly for himself in the modern landscape of the game, he wants more than money for himself — he wants his teammates to get paid, too.

Michigan football star, Blake Corum, wants to see his teammates get paid via NIL

Blake Corum is arguably the top Michigan football star on the 2023 roster — a roster that experts and fans believe has the potential to claim a national title this fall. For the Wolverines, Corum and the offensive line are going to be essential in this year’s title run; Michigan football has won the Big Ten and appeared in the College Football Playoff in consecutive years, but it has yet to truly get over the hump and compete in the national title game.

That said, the University of Michigan remains a leader in the world of NIL — something that Blake Corum is embracing and is looking for his teammates to get paid as well. According to Corum, NIL is not a huge factor to him; however, he loves seeing other Wolverines earn money and build their own personal brand as much as anything.

“It was great being able to get some of the other guys that might not necessarily be targets in the marketing world,” Corum said of Michigan’s ‘One More Year Fund,’ per On3 NIL. “Sometimes it’s unfair. I want my offensive linemen to get as much marketing as they can and sometimes these businesses don’t necessarily go to the offensive linemen.

“They go to the skill players, the guys that score the touchdowns. But without them, we ain’t scoring no touchdowns. Being able to give them cheese, I think it’s amazing. Like I said, NIL has been really good to us, my teammates and me. It’s a bonus. It’s still all about ball but who would turn down a little bit of money while you’re playing a little bit of ball?”

NIL is not going anywhere for Michigan football or the rest of the country, and seeing how much the program has grown with the rapidly changing landscape of college football is incredible for Wolverines fans as their team chases titles and more in the coming years.
