A lot of Michigan football fans seem to be pretty concerned with U-M quarterback JJ McCarthy right now, as there is a growing belief that McCarthy has been playing through injury for a couple of weeks now. That said, what is not being talked about as much is that Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord recently went down and was seen limping during the Buckeyes’ 37-3 win at Minnesota last Saturday. Here is the latest on where things stand with McCord just days away from “The Game.”

Michigan football, Ohio State quarterback both a bit banged up

JJ McCarthy vs. Kyle McCord —  a quarterback battle that has been five years in the making, ever since McCord took McCarthy’s spot in Columbus, prompting the former five-star to commit to Jim Harbaugh and Michigan football. Heading into this weekend, McCarthy is 2-0 against his ex-favorite team, most recently claiming a 45-23 victory over OSU in Columbus.

Throughout the week, Michigan football players and coaches — such as Sherrone Moore, Trevor Keegan, and even JJ McCarthy himself — have given injury updates on the Wolverines’ elite quarterback. While it sounds like McCarthy is doing just fine right now, there are some growing concerns of a similar nature about the status of Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord, who was slow to get up and was spotted limping following a big hit against Minnesota last Saturday.

Kyle McCord updates status ahead of bout against JJ McCarthy and his Wolverines

Ahead of this weekend’s Michigan football-Ohio State game, Kyle McCord updated his injury status. Like many speculate to be the case with JJ McCarthy, it sounds like McCord is not 100% heading into “The Game.” Still, he is as healthy as he can be.

“At this point — Week 11 — I don’t know if there’s anybody on that field that’s 100%, but I think the O-line has done a really good job of keeping me upright,” Kyle McCord said after Ohio State beat Minnesota. “And I feel good. I feel good.

“I think the biggest thing is just making sure that you’re doing everything you can during the week to get your body to tip-top shape to go out there on Saturday (against Michigan),” he added.

Below is a clip of the hit that Kyle McCord took last weekend.
