After the Oklahoma Sooners defeated the Texas Longhorns in the Red River Rivalry just over a week ago, Michigan football transfer loss Andrel Anthony was ruled out for the remainder of the season due to injury. Anthony, who never really had a breakout year in Ann Arbor, yet was the Sooners’ top wideout and one of the best in the Big 12 at the mid-way point, recently took to Twitter to share a positive outlook on how everything is unfolding for him.

Michigan football transfer loss has positive message following injury

Former Michigan football wide receiver Andrel Anthony was a notable transfer portal loss for the Maize and Blue, especially considering the fact that he was one of the Big 12’s top offensive players through six games of the 2023 season. Despite leaving the Texas game early — being ruled out for the season shortly after — Anthony caught 27 passes for 429 yards and a touchdown this fall.

Anthony’s injury is a knee issue, perhaps similar to the knee injuries sustained by Cade McNamara (QB) and Erick All (TE) — another pair of Michigan football transfer losses who have been ruled out for the year due to injury.

“It’s all God’s plan,” Andrel Anthony said on Twitter following his injury. “Romans 8:18.. ‘I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.’ Thank you for the love and support, Sooner nation.”

Andrel Anthony still has a great career ahead of him with Oklahoma

Oklahoma coach Brent Venables added that, while Anthony’s injury is certainly disappointing and frustrating for everyone involved, he thinks that the ex-Michigan football star’s best football is still ahead of him. If the former Wolverine could become one of the top wideouts in the Big 12 during his first year with the Sooners, imagine what the next few years could look like for Andrel Anthony and the Oklahoma offense.
