Most Michigan football fans will have their eyes on the quarterback position this fall, especially if No. 1 recruit Bryce Underwood is under center. The Wolverines could be lining themselves up to grab another top signal-caller in 2026 five-star Ryder Lyons. According to On3 ($), Lyons is expected to be in Ann Arbor Friday through Sunday.

Michigan could add a 5-star quarterback in back-to-back recruiting classes

Lyons will be a senior at Folsom High (Folsom, CA) this fall and currently holds offers from Michigan, Alabama, Auburn, USC, Ole Miss, Oregon and more. Lyons is the No. 1 player in California and No. 4 quarterback in the country, per On3 Industry Ranking.

Standing at 6-foot-3, 225 pounds, Lyons is a dual-threat with a frame similar to 2024 NFL MVP Josh Allen. As a sophomore, Lyons threw for 3,600 yards, ran for 950 more and scored 61 total touchdowns to lead Folsom to a Division 1 state title.

Since the end of his junior season, Lyons has been turning heads at 7-on-7 competitions. Lyons is tough to bring down and excels at extending the play, keeping his eyes down field and finding an open receiver.

Per On3, USC has a 97.2 percent chance to land Lyons. However, Michigan is no stranger to flipping a highly touted recruit, and it is certainly in the hunt for Lyons.
