Last year’s Michigan Wolverines football team was one of the best in program history, winning 13 games all said and done, including a second-straight Big Ten title and appearing in the College Football Playoff semi-final (Fiesta Bowl) against TCU. That said, the Wolverines’ season was cut short with a 6-point loss to the Horned Frogs in heartbreaking fashion. This year’s team is gunning for a national title and is using last year’s Fiesta Bowl loss as motivation.

Michigan football is close to the national title. The Maize and Blue have appeared in two-straight College Football Playoffs so far and finished among the top 3 nationally in 2021 and 2022. However, Michigan has fallen just short over the last two years and is yet to obtain a single lead in a playoff game.

Heading into the 2023 college football season, it appears that this year’s Michigan Wolverines football team is Jim Harbaugh’s best yet, putting the Maize and Blue in great shape to make a push for the 2023-24 national championship. Recently, on episode one of ‘Michigan Made,’ a few top Wolverine stars broke down how last year’s playoff loss is serving as motivation, fueling a potential 2023 national title run for the Maize and Blue.

“That was a tough moment,” Cornelius Johnson said. “Because we really feel like that’s not how it should’ve went.”

“It’s been tough,” senior offensive lineman Zak Zinter said. “We had to move on and just not let it weigh on us. Honestly, losing is the greatest teacher.”

“That game played a little role in me coming back,” said senior star running back Blake Corum. “We have one more chance to do it. I just know we have what it takes.”

“You gotta take this pain with you, and bring that to the winter training cycle, you gotta bring that with you to spring ball, to summer training camp,” said senior defensive tackle Kris Jenkins. “You gotta run with it. This is what’s going to fuel us to do what we do this upcoming season.”

“It’s now or never,” said rising star wide receiver Roman Wilson. “This really has to be our year.”
