Michigan receiver Tyler Morris dives for a pass during first-half action against Bowling Green, Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023.

Michigan’s offense is expected to look much different next season in terms of both personnel and production. Ann Arbor should be one of the top destinations in the transfer portal over the next few weeks, but it means some players have to go. On Tuesday, junior wide receiver Tyler Morris became the first player (of perhaps many) to enter the portal according to 247Sports’ Matt Zenitz ($).

Michigan WR Tyler Morris Expected to Transfer

Morris tied with sophomore Semaj Morgan for second on the team with 23 catches this season. He was also Michigan’s second leading receiver in yards (248) and touchdowns (2) behind tight end Colston Loveland. The Wolverines had the fifth-worst ranked passing offense in the country. Only Iowa, Navy, Air Force and Army were ranked lower, respectively.

Morris’ first career touchdown came in the rose bowl win over Alabama last season. His time as a Wolverine came to an end after accumulating 39 receptions for 470 yards and three touchdowns. He also saw some work returning punts, in which he gained 126 yards on 15 attempts.

Michigan was already looking to bring in more wide outs, and the departure of Morris clears the way. Former Indiana wide receiver Donoven McCulley is expected to be a top target, but there could be several other additions as well.
