Yet again, Jim Harbaugh is flirting heavily with the NFL following an impressive, championship-winning season in Ann Arbor; this time, things are getting serious with a few teams in the league. But Harbaugh is not the only one who could make the transition, especially if he is to go and take some of his Michigan football coaches with him, such as Jesse Minter and Jay Harbaugh.
Jim Harbaugh could take multiple Michigan football coaches to the NFL
Over the last couple of years, Jim Harbaugh has created a dominant football program, both in terms of players and coaches. When Jim Harbaugh was suspended twice in the 2023 season, the coaching staff didn’t miss a beat. Each of the four interim coaches kept the Wolverines undefeated during Harbaugh’s absence.
Now that Harbaugh is eyeing a potential return to the NFL, multiple Michigan football coaches could wind up making the pro football jump as well. As of now, Harbaugh has interviewed with the Atlanta Falcons and Los Angeles Chargers, though the latter seems like the more likely of the two options.
“How might a potential Jim Harbaugh staff look should he be offered and accept Chargers job? Per league sources, offensive coordinator could be Greg Roman, defensive coordinator Jesse Minter and special teams coordinator Jay Harbaugh, Jim’s son,” says NFL insider Aaron Wilson.
Jim Harbaugh’s future is still undetermined, but if an NFL jump does happen, a coaching change could be in the mix for multiple Michigan football positions. If Jay Harbaugh and Jesse Minter do accompany Jim Harbaugh, Michigan will be in search of a new head coach, defensive coordinator, and special teams coordinator.
