Last weekend, Michigan football true freshman Semaj Morgan shinned during the Wolverines’ 41-13 win over Purdue, which boosted the team to 9-0 (6-0 Big Ten) on the year heading into a crucial matchup against the No. 9 Penn State Nittany Lions (8-1, 5-1 Big Ten). Morgan didn’t receive many touches, but his impressive speed led to yet another touchdown, prompting Michigan stars and even Jim Harbaugh to fuel the hype train surrounding this first-year Wolverine.
New hype emerging for this Michigan football true freshman
Semaj Morgan makes big plays and has been doing so all year long. Sure, he is only a true freshman, but that has not stopped him from becoming a well-known name in the Michigan football program just one year into his tenure in Ann Arbor.
Jim Harbaugh shares his thoughts
So, what did Jim Harbaugh have to say about Semaj Morgan?
“(Semaj Morgan) is electric,” Jim Harbaugh said following the Wolverines’ 41-13 win over Purdue last weekend. “Ball in his hands, (he) has got a chance to go a distance. And he’s just strong. I mean, not huge in stature, you know? It’s not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog. He’s every bit and a true freshman. And the guys love him, and it’s a spark the way he competes. And every time he touches the ball, there’s a chance.”
Two Michigan football stars chime in
After the game, Michigan football stars like JJ McCarthy (quarterback) and Roman Wilson (wide receiver) were also given a chance to chime in and share their thoughts on Semaj Morgan.
“I am so proud of that guy,” Michigan senior wideout Roman Wilson said of Morgan. “That’s a guy that comes in here, and he has the only mindset of trying to achieve greatness. This guy comes in with the best attitude I’ve ever seen in a person. The best work ethic.”
“It’s the mentality that kid has that makes him special,” JJ McCarthy added. “It’s a tremendous honor to be able to throw the ball to him and hand the ball off, I’m just so happy for him and happy to see what he does in the coming weeks.”
Wolverines must shift focus to Penn State this week
Now, in the middle of investigations and more, Michigan football must shift its focus from Purdue to its biggest test of the year so far: a Week 11 battle in State College against the Penn State Nittany Lions.
