Yesterday was the first day of the 2023 high school football season for a number of Wolverines, including quarterback Jadyn Davis and running back Jordan Marshall. After just one game, it’s clear that Marshall, the No. 1 Michigan football commit in the 2024 recruiting class (per the industry rankings), could be the next great ball carrier to wear the Maize and Blue.

Next fall will be the first year that the Wolverines’ 2024 recruiting class is on campus, though it is becoming more and more clear by the day that Jim Harbaugh is assembling a truly special class right now. Yesterday, quarterback Jadyn Davis compiled over 450 yards and five touchdowns; meanwhile, running back Jordan Marshall — the No. 1 Michigan football commit in the 2024 class — had a stellar performance of his own.

All said and done, Marshall compiled an impressive 165 yards and four touchdowns (per the team website) in his school’s season opener. They lost the game, but Marshall stood out as an elite back throughout the game. 120 yards and three touchdowns of Marshall’s final stat line were earned on the ground — the other 45 yards and one touchdown were through the passing game. Additionally, Marshall’s 19 carries mean that he averaged an impressive 6.3 yards per carry in Week 1.

Per the On3 Industry Rankings, Jordan Marshall is a four-star running back in the 2024 recruiting class. His national rank of 58th makes him the No. 1 Michigan football commit in the 2024 class, narrowly beating out four-star quarterback Jadyn Davis, who may earn back his five-star status throughout the 2023 season.
