On Thursday, Providence Day High School (North Carolina) took on the Rock Hill Northwestern Trojans (South Carolina) for their 2023 season opener. Jadyn Davis and Channing Goodwin, both of whom are current Michigan football commits in the 2024 recruiting class, found themselves standing out in Providence Day’s 42-35 victory — Davis went off for over 450 yards, with Goodwin hauling in about 150 yards of his own. If you are a fan of the Wolverines, this news needs to have you excited for the future of Michigan’s offense.

Pair of Michigan football commits forming an elite duo

After the coming college football season, the future of the Michigan football quarterback room remains uncertain. Will star quarterback JJ McCarthy go to the NFL? Will he stay for a senior season? No one knows, but what we are mostly sure of is that high school star Jadyn Davis, who was a five-star when he initially committed to the Wolverines yet recently dropped, will be on his way to Ann Arbor after wrapping up his senior year at Providence Day High School.

Jadyn Davis and Channing Goodwin shine in season opener

Alongside Jadyn Davis at Providence Day High School is four-star wide receiver Channing Goodwin, who committed soon after Davis did during the spring. A few nights ago, this pair of Michigan football commits burst onto the scene for their final season of high school ball — they both stood out, and more importantly, they proved that the Wolverines have an elite duo rising in the ranks within their 2024 recruiting class.

According to MaxPreps, this duo balled out on Thursday — Jadyn Davis went off for over 450 yards and five touchdowns (with no interceptions), and Channing Goodwin hauled in five catches for nearly 150 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

EJ Holland of On3 was at the game last week and caught a lot of great shots of these two future Michigan football players. They are all on his Twitter page, but here is one that stands out (below), with Davis finding Goodwin for their second touchdown of the night.

A Providence Day target that Jim Harbaugh may be looking to flip in the 2024 recruiting class

It is also worth noting that Jordan Shipp, a Providence Day four-star wide receiver that Michigan football narrowly missed out on this spring, caught a whopping 13 passes for 234 yards (per MaxPreps). While he is currently committed to North Carolina, the Wolverines made a very strong push for him earlier this year, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Jim Harbaugh continues to pursue him until everything is made official on National Singing Day.
