Belleville QB Bryce Underwood is interviewed after defeating Clarkston during the 2024 Xenith Prep Kickoff Classic at Wayne State's Tom Adams Field in Detroit on Friday, Aug. 30, 2024.

Michigan football has gained momentum in the chase for No. 1 overall recruit Bryce Underwood, but it could come to a halt this weekend. The Belleville (MI) senior dual-threat quarterback will officially visit No. 14 LSU on Saturday night for its game against No. 11 Alabama. Underwood has been verbally committed to play in Baton Rouge since January.

Bryce Underwood Predicted to Stay with LSU

Steve Wiltfong of On3 predicted Underwood to remain a Tiger on Thursday. On a positive note, Michigan was predicted to flip four-star ATH and teammate of Underwood in Elijah Dotson. Dotson was in the Big House last weekend as the Wolverines fell short to No. 1 Oregon.

In light of their pursuit of Underwood, 2025 three-star quarterback Carter Smith decommitted from the Wolverines. That leaves the maize and blue without a quarterback commit in the upcoming class. Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore was asked about the future of the program’s signal-callers on Monday.

“We’ll be fine,” Moore said with a smile.

The early signing period doesn’t begin until Dec. 4, so Michigan still has some time to compete with LSU. In the meantime, Wolverine fans will likely root for the Crimson Tide this weekend.
