Michigan quarterback Alex Orji (10) runs against Michigan State during the second half at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024.

Michigan football (5-3, 3-2 Big Ten) was able to come out with an important rivalry win over Michigan State on Saturday night. The offense had a spark, and the defense was stout in the red zone throughout the game. It should be no surprise that Michigan had several players with high recognition from Pro Football Focus (PFF).

Offensive Standouts

The Wolverine offense had been struggling on offense, but six players graded higher than 70 against the Spartans. Both quarterbacks were given their highest grades of the season – Alex Orji with a 91.4 and Davis Warren with a 77.2. Offensive guard Giovanni El-Hadi was given a grade of 80.9, including a 90.5 in pass protection and a 60.1 in run blocking. Tight ends Marvin Klein (71.6) and Colston Loveland (71.2) were the next highest as right tackle Andrew Gentry rounded out the top six with a 70.5.

Defensive Standouts

The Michigan defense had nine players over 70. Linebackers Derrick Moore (81.8), Jimmy Rolder (81.7) and Jaishawn Barham (75.5) took up the top three. Cornerback Jyaire Hill was the highest graded defensive back with a 73.1. Linebackers Josaiah Stewart (73.1), TJ Guy (73), and Cameron Brandt (72.2) were the next highest graded defenders. Defensive lineman Mason Graham (71.1) and cornerback Aamir Hall (71.1) rounded out the top tier.
