The Wait Is Over: Michigan Promotes Sherrone Moore and Chris Partridge

Finally, after weeks of waiting, Michigan football has gotten its staff straightened out. This morning, the Wolverines officially announced that former co-offensive coordinator Sherrone Moore has been promoted to the full-time play-caller, and former “defensive assistant coach” Chris Partridge will fill George Helow’s role as the linebackers coach.

Frankly, it has been a messy offseason for the Michigan Wolverines football team, which is coming off of a 13-1 Big Ten title season in 2022. Between the Harbaugh-NFL rumors, AD turmoil, recruiting drama, Matt Weiss investigation, and more, it has been a wild ride for Wolverines fans thus far. On Friday, things started to settle down though, as the Michigan football team has seemingly set its staff for the 2023 season.

After Matt Weiss was fired in January, most speculated that the other half of Michigan’s co-offensive coordinator system would get the nod — they were right. This afternoon, it was made official.

Just over a week ago, Michigan football hired former defensive assistant Chris Partridge, who served on Harbaugh’s staff in Ann Arbor from 2015-2019 before leaving for a similar role at Ole Miss. Now, Partridge will return to Harbaugh’s side as a linebackers coach — the Wolverines former LB coach, George Helow, announced his departure from the program yesterday afternoon.

These are both great hires and huge additions to Michigan’s coaching staff — we have confidence that both Moore and Partridge will help carry the Michigan Wolverines to another Big Ten title and more later this year.
