If you thought the news of Jim Harbaugh being suspended from the Michigan football sideline was in the rearview mirror, as many fans did, you would be wrong. Today, Chris Balas of The Wolverine reported that the University of Michigan will be looking to suspend its own head coach for three games of the coming college football season.
Michigan football reportedly looking to suspend Jim Harbaugh for 3 games of the coming season
‘Burgergate,’ as it has become known, has been dragging on for months. Recently, the NCAA gunned down its own proposal to suspend Michigan football head coach Jim Harbaugh for four games of the coming 2023 season, meaning the Wolverines and their head coach will have to deal with the NCAA for the foreseeable future.
Still, today, new reports show that Michigan football has decided to suspend Jim Harbaugh for three games of the 2023 season — a self-imposed punishment for the veteran head coach that no one saw coming. Nothing more has been said to this point, but this up-and-down saga appears to have no end in sight for the Wolverines at the moment.
Another piece of information that fans should keep in mind is that other Michigan football assistant coaches, such as offensive play-caller Sherrone Moore, were also facing NCAA punishment, so this is another storyline to watch as the offseason comes to an end.
For now, it appears that Jim Harbaugh will no longer be coaching the entire 2023 season in Ann Arbor, and there may be a pending search for an interim head coach, depending on how all of this plays out down the stretch.
