The 2023 Michigan football QB room is one of the deepest and most talented groups in the entire nation right now. With former five-star quarterback JJ McCarthy leading the charge, few programs appear to have the talent to compete with the Maize and Blue on the field; additionally, behind McCarthy is a number of other talented quarterbacks, including Indiana transfer portal grab Jack Tuttle, who just recently arrived in Ann Arbor. As we approach summer ball and the fall opener, take a look at what Sherrone Moore — the Wolverines’ OC — had to say about his quarterbacks.

Michigan football QB room earns high praise from Wolverines’ offensive play-caller, Sherrone Moore, ahead of the 2023 season.

Sherrone Moore was recently promoted to the full-time play-caller for the Maize and Blue following the departure of former co-offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, Matt Weiss. Moore, who is largely attributed for reviving the Wolverines’ offense, is already raving about his Michigan football QB room ahead of the 2023 season.

“It’s crazy talented,” Moore said, according to the In The Trenches Podcast. “But even better, like they’re just they’re all competitors. They all want to win. And they all kind of understand, they obviously know J.J. is QB1. He’s the number one guy but they’re all fighting for number two, but it’s not combative. They’re all helping each other out. But they’re a super talented group.”

As all fans likely know by now, former five-star sensation JJ McCarthy is heading into his third year with the Wolverines and his second season as Michigan’s full-time starter. This fall, the nation will see if McCarthy can take the Maize and Blue to the next level and lead his program to its first national title since the 1997 season. Still, behind McCarthy is a number of other talented QBs, all of which have their own incredible skillsets.

“They all got the ability to make all the throws all of them can run, which is super awesome,” Sherrone Moore continued. “So they’re all dual threat, I guess you can say. But they’re all extremely talented and I’m excited about that group.”

This fall, watch for the Michigan football QB room to take the next step under the elite supervision of Sherrone Moore and new quarterbacks coach Kirk Campbell, who has reportedly been killing it thus far.
