In less than a month, the 2023 Michigan football season will kick off against East Carolina at the Big House in Ann Arbor, MI. After claiming back-to-back Big Ten titles and appearing in the College Football Playoff in consecutive seasons, the Wolverines are poised to finally climb the ladder and win a national title this fall. According to ESPN analyst Bruce Feldman, here is how the Maize and Blue can finish the year No. 1 in the polls.

How can Michigan football win the national title in 2023-24?

Anticipation is growing for the upcoming Michigan football season, and rightfully so. Jim Harbaugh’s last two teams were fantastic and boast a 25-3 overall record with a pair of wins over Ohio State, Big Ten titles, and CFP appearances to show for it. That said, this year’s team seems to be Harbaugh’s best thus far during his 9-year tenure as head coach in Ann Arbor, and the nation is prepared to witness a national title run from the Wolverines.

Recently, college football analyst Bruce Feldman of ESPN explained how he thinks Michigan football can win it all in 2023-24.

“One of those five-star guys that they do have, JJ McCarthy, didn’t play when they played against Georgia — he wasn’t the starter, Cade McNamara, obviously, was,” Bruce Feldman said on the Rich Eisen Show. “JJ (McCarthy) is really, really gifted. We saw that certainly against Ohio State when the backfield — there was almost no Blake Corum. He played, but — even though Donovan Edwards had two great runs, he was playing injured in the game, as well — playing hurt. And McCarthy made big plays.

“If JJ McCarthy plays like all the people who are evaluating him think he has that talent, I do think they can win a national title,” Feldman said. “Because they have really good leadership, they obviously have a terrific offensive line, they have dynamic running backs. Some of these guys have blossomed.

“Kris Jenkins, his dad was a former NFL star, he was a three-star guy, he was 240 pounds when he came to Michigan. He’s 302, and Jim Harbaugh told me, ‘I think he’ll be a top 10 pick.’ He is the kind of guy that Georgia and Alabama are playing with. They don’t have eight of him, but they do have a few. And it helps them that this is the year that three of the most talented teams quote-unquote — are (starting) new quarterbacks. And two of them were in the top of the draft and the third guy they’re probably gonna build a statue of him in Athens.”

From athletic freaks like Kris Jenkins to veteran leaders like JJ McCarthy and more, Michigan football is poised to win it all this fall.
