Michigan football has its most complete roster of the Jim Harbaugh era heading into the 2023 season, and with that, the Wolverines are being seen as top national title contenders. Over the past two seasons, the Maize and Blue have claimed consecutive Big Ten titles and College Football Playoff appearances. This fall, they will be going all out, aiming to win it all, and potentially break a major NFL Draft record afterward. However, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian is less optimistic about the Wolverines’ chances.

Texas head coach responds to Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh’s bold claim about the coming NFL Draft

According to Bruce Feldman of The Athletic, Michigan football head coach Jim Harbaugh is quite confident in his team’s ability to break a major NFL Draft record. He believes that 20 Wolverines will be picked in the 2024 draft.

“I think we’ll have 20 guys picked (in the next NFL draft),” Jim Harbaugh said. “I bet we break that (draft) record. (The Georgia Bulldogs) had 15 that year.”

That said, Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian is less enthusiastic about the Wolverines’ chances.

“What’s the record on draft picks?” Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian asked during his initial fall camp interview — his third as head coach of the Longhorns. “That seems a pretty optimistic number at 20.”

Perhaps Jim Harbaugh is being too “optimistic” about his Michigan football roster, or maybe the Wolverines are in for a record-breaking post-season next spring. Either way, the Maize and Blue are looking at a potential title run in 2023, which is all that anyone in Ann Arbor is focused on right now.
