ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The 2023 college football season is less than a month away, meaning fall camp is well underway for the Wolverines. For Michigan football offensive star JJ McCarthy, among others, such as Donovan Edwards and Will Johnson, it has been a productive offseason, resulting in a bigger and better frame than what fans are used to from years past.

Michigan football offensive star JJ McCarthy and others add notable weight ahead of fall camp

The feeling of football is in the air in Ann Arbor, MI — the home of the Michigan football program. With the start of fall camp, which officially began on August 2nd, the Wolverines are close to kicking off a new campaign, which will begin against East Carolina on September 2nd at Michigan Stadium.

It has been a long yet successful offseason for Michigan football thus far, with many star players, including JJ McCarthy (quarterback), Donovan Edwards (running back), Will Johnson (cornerback), and more, all seeing great progress and bulking up throughout the previous months. With less than a month until kickoff, all three of these standouts are looking bigger and better than ever.

According to the newly updated Michigan football roster page, these Wolverines have all put on some weight ahead of the coming season. JJ McCarthy is up from 196 pounds at the end of last year to 202 pounds heading into 2023; likewise, Donovan Edwards has gained as well, going from 204 pounds in 2022 to 210+ pounds in 2023. On the defensive side of the ball, Freshman All-American defensive back Will Johnson has bulked up, going from 194 pounds last year to 202 pounds heading into fall camp.

There are a number of other notable weight gains and weight losses during fall camp, but with these three Wolverines all looking as big as ever, it appears that the 2023 Michigan football season is in good hands.
