Just over one week out from the spring game, senior Amorion Walker has entered the transfer portal for the second time in his collegiate career. Walker played both sides of the ball, spending his freshman year in Ann Arbor as a wide receiver, his sophomore year—cut short due to an injury—on defense, then transferring to Ole Miss where he spent three months in the spring, before he transferred back to Michigan to play on offense again.

In 2024, Walker played in just four games for a total of three receptions and 34 yards. When he played on defense during his sophomore season, he made a few decent plays, but nothing to write home about. Leading up to the 2025 season, Walker has been practicing on offense, and he appeared on the spring roster, though he was listed without a number.

Walker’s Versatility on Both Sides of the Ball May Give Him Options

Given his versatility, it stands to reason that Walker would be open to playing on either offense or defense wherever he ends up for his senior season. According to The Michigan Insider, former Defensive Coordinator Jesse Minter said of Walker’s stint as a defensive back, “He is really, really fast…he has the skill-set to play the position.” Though he spent his most recent season on offense, that he could make the switch back to defense is a definite possibility.

On the flip side, per The Michigan Insider, wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy said of Walker, “He’s just working through something right now. He’s trying to get healthy, working through something.” Bellamy did not comment further, but it seems that Walker may have had to work harder to develop on offense than on defense.

While a lot is uncertain for Amorion Walker’s future as a college athlete, after devoting most of his first three years to the maize and blue, it seems he will be closing out his collegiate career elsewhere.
