COLLEGE PARK, Maryland — This afternoon, the 3rd-ranked Wolverines walked into College Park and downed the Maryland Terrapins by a touchdown, improving to 11-0 on the season and earning the team’s 1,000th all-time victory. With Ohio State looming just a week away, which will likely be another 11-0 vs. 11-0, No. 2 vs. No. 3 game — this time, in Ann Arbor, Michigan. After the Wolverines’ nail-biting and historic win, Michigan football fans stormed Maryland’s field.
Michigan football fans storm Maryland Terrapins field following 1,000th all-time win
A good field storm is always iconic; however, it rarely (if ever) happens on an opposing team’s field. That said, Michigan football fans hit the turf this afternoon following their team’s historic 1,000th all-time victory despite the game’s nail-biting nature.
It was not an impressive win; in fact, it was an ugly win, a victory that Michigan football needed multiple defensive and special teams scores to win. Regardless, it was monumental, seeing as no football team — at any level — has hit 1,000 wins before U-M did so this weekend.
The clip below, via Yahoo’s Ross Denenger, shows many Wolverine fans hitting the turf and joining Michigan on the field for their celebration after the game.
