Michigan football fans might have been hoping for a 2025 commitment over the weekend, but the Wolverines came away with some positive news, just in the 2026 class.

Four-star quarterback Brady Hart was the first Michigan football commitment in the class, after his pledge earlier this spring. But Sunday, he was joined by blue-chip defensive back Brody Jennings, a four-star cornerback ranked No. 271 overall according to the 247 Sports composite rankings for the 2026 class.

Jennings is from Jacksonville, Florida. He’s 6-foot-1, 165 pounds, and was pursued by Florida, Kentucky, Texas A&M, Miami, and Florida State, among others.

However, on his first visit to Ann Arbor, Michigan football was able to win him over, and here’s what the commitment of Jennings means for the Wolverines.

Breaking down the latest commitment for Michigan football

My first thought is that Lamar Morgan sure can recruit. After landing four defensive backs in the spring transfer portal window, Morgan has been doing impressive work with high school recruiting.

Not only has he gotten a pair of top-100 defensive backs committed in 2025, but another blue-chipper — Jayden Sanders — visited this weekend and is viewed as a Michigan football lean.

It’s not like Jennings visited Michigan before. This was his first trip. Morgan made a positive impression and according to EJ Holland of The Wolverine, Sherrone Moore did too. The Wolverines also impressed Jennings with their history of sending defensive backs to the NFL.

“(Michigan) has a really good group of defensive backs, and I know that I would get developed there,” Jennings told Holland. “There’s a lot of history behind the school. The defensive backs were developed right last year and they played really well. They have a lot of good coaching.”

Michigan now has two blue-chip commitments in the 2025 class. The Wolverines have 18 commitments in 2025/26 and 13 are composite four-star recruits (blue chips) which is 72 percent.
