Michigan football has undergone a bunch of changes since winning the national championship in January. Not only do the Wolverines have a new head coach but they will have a bunch of new starters too.

That includes a new starting quarterback and actually, the entire starting offense outside of tight end Colston Loveland. The defense also lost quite a few players to the NFL draft such as Kris Jenkins, Mike Sainristil, Junior Colson, Michael Barrett, and Jaylen Harrell.

Yet, there was a concern this spring that Michigan football could lose even more talent. U-M had to get through the 30-day transfer window after Jim Harbaugh departed for the NFL, along with the spring transfer window when teams are usually willing to pay even more to fill holes on their roster.

There’s no doubt that Michigan football players turned down multi-million dollar offers to stay with the Wolverines, although they are getting paid well at Michigan too now.

With the retention of Mason Graham, Will Johnson, Kenneth Grant, Colston Loveland, Donovan Edwards, and more, the Wolverines have a solid nucleus. Some guys will have to step up at cornerback, nickel, safety, wide receiver, and on the offensive line.

Players at every position will need to step up because you need depth. Championship depth isn’t easy to come by. Michigan football had it last season. The depth chart looks pretty strong once again
