Just hours after 4-star WR Zion Robinson announced his commitment to Michigan, fellow 4-star recruit Marky Walbridge announced his commitment as well. His commitment is one of many in a line of huge recruiting wins this month for Sherrone Moore’s Wolverines, with Robinson, DT Titan Davis, RB Jonathan Brown, and now Walbridge at the helm.
Walbridge’s commitment to Michigan comes at the expense of Alabama and Penn State, both of which were hoping to land the 6-foot-6, 270 lb offensive lineman for their own rosters. His decision came after an official visit to Ann Arbor over the weekend of June 20th, offensive line coach Grant Newsome leading the recruitment charge for Walbridge.
Marky Walbridge Has Had Michigan on His Radar From the Jump
According to On3, Walbridge explained, “I’ve been watching [Michigan Football] since I was little…They have top of the line facilities. I really love the coaches. I loved what they had to say about the academics there, too.” He went on to say that the relationship he’s already built with head coach Sherrone Moore also played a pivotal role in his decision to go blue: “He’s a great coach. Michigan is basically O-Line U. They have the most offensive linemen in the NFL.”
Walbridge is clearly the kind of player who sees the big picture, thinking ahead to how Michigan can help him develop into an NFL-caliber player. Ranked as the number two overall recruit in the state of Massachusetts, he clearly has a pretty high ceiling, and has every intention of both reaching and raising it throughout his collegiate career.
Marky Walbridge marks the second big recruiting win on June 25th alone, and Sherrone Moore’s coaching staff certainly aren’t showing any signs of stopping with their recruitment tear any time soon.
