With the end of its regular season just over two weeks away, Michigan baseball is heading into an important stretch. The Wolverines went 12-5 in April and currently sit at 27-17 (11-10 Big Ten), good enough for 7th place in the conference.

Michigan swept Michigan State last weekend, and it has another series with a rival this weekend (May 2-4) on the road against Ohio State. The Buckeyes are in last place in the conference (11-30, 3-18 Big Ten).

In 2024, the Wolverines won the series 2-1, and pitcher/catcher Will Rogers was elite at the plate. He pitched in the game-two loss, but in two games as a hitter he went 4-for-8 with three runs and an RBI. Rogers has seen more work on the mound this season, but he could be in the lineup for more than one game against the Buckeyes.

Starting pitcher Kurt Barr got the win in game one of the series last season. Among those averaging one inning pitched per game, Barr leads the Michigan hurlers in wins (5), ERA (3.70) and strikeouts (62) this year.

A few Wolverines have been scorching in the batters box: infielder Benny Casillas, outfielder Greg Pace Jr. and infielder Mitch Voit. Casillas is hitting .419, which ranks first in the Big Ten and 12th nationally. Casillas is tied for the conference lead in hits (67) with Rutgers outfielder Trevor Cohen.

Over the past four games, Pace Jr. hit .615 with three home runs and eight runs scored. He has the second-best OPS on the team at 1.099, only behind Voit (1.171).

Voit leads the Wolverines in home runs this season with ten. He also leads the team in runs (43), RBIs (48), slugging percentage (.673), walks (34) and is tied for the lead in triples (2). Voit is the only Michigan player to start every game this season, doing so at second base.
