For all Wolverines fans, the past week has likely been the most eventful bye week of anyone’s lifetime. That said, Michigan football is still kicking and appears to be a top national championship contender right now, despite the investigations and allegations against suspended staffer Connor Stalions regarding illegal sign-stealing methods. Yesterday, Joel Klatt released his new top 10, which pins Jim Harbaugh’s Wolverines as the best team in the land.

Joel Klatt is one of the best and most trusted analysts in college football, and yesterday, he dropped his weekly top 10 heading into Week 10 of the 2023 season. Michigan football, which sits at 8-0 overall and 5-0 in Big Ten play, is coming off of a 49-0 victory over Michigan State in Week 8, and will be hosting the pursue Boilermakers at the Big House next Saturday.

In Klatt’s new top 10, which has seen some varying rankings for the Wolverines over the past few weeks, Michigan football comes in at No. 1 in the nation despite all of the outside noise.

With the reporting on Connor Stalions and his alleged sign-stealing ring starting to slow down, it’s time for Jim Harbaugh to get his Wolverines back in high gear and start winning football games again. Michigan football gets one more “gimme” game — next weekend’s matchup against Purdue — before playing a crucial three-game stretch to close out the season: at Penn State, at Maryland, and against Ohio State.

If the Wolverines can remain perfect the rest of the way, Michigan will be playing for the Big Ten Championship for the third year in a row, and will likely get their shot at winning it all in this year’s College Football Playoff — the Wolverines have appeared twice, though are yet to even hold a lead in the CFP.
