Michigan football coach Jim Harbaugh improved to 5-4 against the Michigan State Spartans as the head coach of the Wolverines last weekend, leading the Maize and Blue to a 49-0 victory in East Lansing. On Monday, ahead of Michigan’s bye week this weekend, Harbaugh detailed some cheap shots from MSU against players like Alex Orji, Braiden McGregor, and more.

Braiden McGregor

The most obvious cheap shot against Michigan football last weekend was when a Michigan State offensive lineman dove head-first into the back of Braiden McGregor’s head during an interception return. While McGregor said that he didn’t notice it too much, it still looks pretty dirty on tape.

“There were a lot of cheap shots that were happening in the game (against Michigan State),” Jim Harbaugh said on the ‘Inside Michigan Football’ show. “The hit that Braiden (McGregor) took to the back of the head, just the way he kept his poise — I think that’s a great representative for all defensive players on our team.”

Alex Orji

Michigan football quarterback Alex Orji also punched in a late score — one that made it 49-0 in the Wolverines’ favor all said and done. Still, even the second-year QB did not escape Spartan Stadium without being on the receiving end of a cheap shot.

“Alex Orji, the cheap shot he got,” Jim Harbaugh said. “Just the way they kept their poise and discipline. Super proud — and I thought those were two tremendous examples from the game.”

Michigan football back in action next weekend

With the 49-point win over Michigan State, Michigan football improved to 8-0 on the year (5-0 Big Ten) heading into this weekend’s bye. Next week, Michigan is back in action, hosting the Purdue Boilermakers at the Big House before hitting the road for a massive matchup against the Penn State Nittany Lions.
