Amorion Walker return to Michigan football has big upside

Amorion Walker was one of the bigger names to leave the Michigan football program this offseason, but it turns out, it’s like he never left.

That’s because after re-entering the transfer portal last week, the 6-foot-4, 180-pound athlete announced his commitment again to Michigan football, posting on X, “Coming back like I never left.”

Walker left Michigan football in part because he wanted a chance to play receiver. He was going to get that at Ole Miss. But he left the Rebels for the chance to come back to Michigan. There were reports that the Rebels tried to keep him and Ole Miss doesn’t lack NIL money.

But Michigan football has taken a dramatic step in that area. Plus, D.J. Waller was reportedly going to have a six-figure NIL deal so you could see how that would open up chances for others.

As far as on the field, Walker is going to be a receiver this time. The experiment of cornerback didn’t work out. Walker is a superb athlete though. He’s not a proven commodity. The talent is there though and with two years of eligibility, Michigan football doesn’t have another receiver like him — at least not with his size and speed.

Walker has played receiver before. He knows the Michigan offense and he’s likely going to be among the top four wideouts to start the season along with Tyler Morris, Semaj Morgan, and Fred Moore. The upside is what gets you excited and at least Walker is familiar with the offense.

The transition should be smooth and it will be exciting to see what Walker does with this opportunity.
