If you listen to one of the many Ohio State fan accounts, it’s only a matter of time before the “hammer is dropped” by the NCAA on Michigan football. Also, the Wolverines’ best players will all be leaving in the portal, even though, also according to Buckeye fans, they aren’t very good.
It’s a hard logic to follow. But what do you expect at this point? Jim Harbaugh, J.J. McCarthy, and the rest of the Michigan football legends who delivered a national championship broke their brains. They are stuck in the first stage of the cycle of grief and may never get past it.
One way they have tried to cope is by telling any Michigan football fan they can find on the internet that the Wolverines are going to lose all their players to the portal. Only, the Wolverines didn’t lose a single expected starter in the 30-day window for players to transfer after Jim Harbaugh left for the NFL.
There is another spring window, which starts on April 15th. It’s possible that Michigan and other programs could lose some talent to the transfer portal then but I think it’s safe to say a mass exodus isn’t happening.
Another positive for Michigan football player retention
Another sign that Michigan football stars might be sticking around is the fact that many have pledged to work at Semaj Morgan’s camp. It will be hosted on May 18th and Morgan will be joined by Colston Loveland, Donovan Edwards, Will Johnson, Kenneth Grant, and Mason Graham.
They aren’t the only Michigan football players set to be in attendance and while they could back out, it’s hard to see them making that commitment to a teammate and leaving.
After watching Ohio State fans predict Michigan’s downfall since last summer, even before the sign-gate stuff came out, you wonder if they will ever be right. Or, if they will ever accept reality.
