The Wolverines’ National Championship run is officially over, and team 144 is perhaps the greatest in program history. After the national title celebrations were complete in Ann Arbor on Saturday, another Michigan football star announced his official NFL decision: senior Braiden McGregor, who played his final game in the Maize and Blue in Houston against Washington.

Braiden McGregor has seen his ups and downs throughout his football career, though in 2023, he finally got his chance to step up and shine, and he did exactly that. As a senior, McGregor earned All-Big Ten honors, appearing in all 15 games for the Wolverines and recording 26 tackles, nine tackles for loss, and 4.5 sacks.

On Saturday evening, after parading through Ann Arbor with Michigan’s National Championship Trophy, Braiden McGregor announced that he will be declaring for the 2024 NFL Draft in April.

Below is his official announcement.

“Firstly, I want to start by thanking God for the blessings I have been given, nothing is possible without my foundation of faith. I am where I am today because of countless people in my life. Throughout my younger years as a youth athlete, I have had coaches that still impact me to this day. Everyone helped mold me in some way, I am so grateful. To my hometown of Port Huron, I can not express what having a community like ours means to me. It’ll always be one of my favorite places.

“To Wolverine nation, nobody has it better than us! No words can come close for the support you’ve given me throughout my time as a Wolverine. To Coach Harbaugh, thank you for believing in a small town kid with a big dream. I am forever grateful for you and our relationship. I feel so lucky to have you in my life. FOR LIFE.

“To the entire football staff, academic team, trainers, equipment staff, everyone behind the scenes; you have a special place in my heart, you know who you are. To my teammates, my brothers and best friends, we made it to this point because of our brotherhood. No one can ever take away our bond, brothers for life.

“Last, but certainly not least, to my unwavering, supportive, close family, friends, and girlfriend, I am where I am today because I knew I was never alone. Even on my darkest days, I had all of you. I love you. I am proud to say I am leaving with a degree, three Big 10 championships, a Rose Bowl win, never losing to OSU and a National Championship from the greatest University on Earth. With that, I am extremely excited and grateful to declare for the 2024 NFL Draft.

“Forever and Ever Go Blue, Braiden McGregor.”
