There have been a couple of negative trends for Michigan football this week on the recruiting trail but for the most part, the Wolverines have been killing it lately and another commitment could be on the way.

The latest positive trend has to do with four-star EDGE Julius Holly, who is 6-foot-3, 230 pounds, and out of Alpharetta, Georgia. He’s ranked 300th overall in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings and 22nd among EDGE defenders.

Recently, Holly released his list of top contenders and Michigan football is among them. The blue-chip pass rusher from Georgia is also announcing his commitment on July 29th.

Georgia, Stanford, Texas A&M, and Ole Miss are the other teams in the mix for Holly who had eight sacks last season. He also had 57 tackles and three pass breakups.

Michigan football has done a stellar job on the recruiting trail in June landing seven commitments in the 2025 class and eight total if you include 2026 quarterback Brady Hart. Four of those seven commitments have been on the defensive side of the ball, but U-M doesn’t have any EDGE recruits committed now.

That would make Holly a key addition. He’s also a prospect who looks better than his No. 300 overall ranking which is a range Michigan has routinely taken players and developed them into NFL draft picks.

Beating out Georgia for an in-state kid would be huge, although it’s always hard to tell how hard the Bulldogs were pushing. Michigan had Holly on campus on June 7th but EJ Holland and Steve Wiltfong of On3.com have projected Holly to Michigan football, along with a crystal ball from Brice Marich of The Michigan Insider.

The On3 prediction machine gives Michigan a 93-percent chance and that should lead to the 13th commitment in the 2025 class and the 10th blue-chip on Saturday.
