Drake Lindsey has been one of the Big Ten’s most efficient quarterbacks through the first month of the season. Bryce Underwood is starting to look like a completely different quarterback than the one Michigan put on the field in Week 1.
Michigan played its best offensive game of the season against Iowa and still found a way to leave the stadium with a loss. That makes the first road trip of the year less about proving Michigan can play good football and more about proving it can stop wasting it.
The Gophers are 3-1, just went into Washington and won, and have a quarterback playing with confidence in Drake Lindsey. They also have one of the most dangerous return games in the country. I still think Michigan is the better team, and I think Saturday looks more like a response than a hangover.

Four weeks into the season, Michigan’s head coach sees a quarterback playing faster, seeing more, and trusting what is around him.
Michigan football head coach Kyle Whittingham met with the media Monday following the Wolverines’ loss to Iowa and ahead of their first road game of the season against Minnesota.
Justin Roh and Joel Honigford of Blue By Ninety break down Michigan’s last-second loss to Iowa. After dominating the majority of the game and the stat sheet, Michigan’s own mistakes cost the Wolverines against the Hawkeyes.

Iowa could not run the ball. Hank Brown was uncomfortable whenever Michigan pressued him. Tony Diaz, the receiver most capable of creating an explosive play, was largely contained. The Hawkeyes had 129 yards, six first downs and zero offensive points through three quarters.
Michigan got Iowa-ed.
That is the simplest explanation for how the Wolverines gained 429 yards, averaged 6.3 yards per play, generated six explosive passes and still finished with 19 points.
