Late in the 2022 season, Michigan football lost powerhouse running back Blake Corum to a season-ending knee injury. At the time, Corum was widely regarded as the best running back in the nation and the favorite to win the 2022 Heisman Trophy.

Despite the numbers he had put up so far on the season, Corum finished seventh in Heisman voting. The meniscus tear Corum suffered in the Illinois game caused Michigan football to change their offensive style for postseason play. Michigan football would go on to lose in the Fiesta Bowl with Corum watching from the sidelines.

Corum emphasized how his agility is improving in practice. “The other day I started cutting for the first time. I’m getting my cuts back,” Corum said, adding “I’m going to be making a lot of people miss this year.”

In the near future, Corum hopes to be back to full strength. Corum stated, “Within these next couple weeks, I hope to be anywhere from 90 to 100 percent, and back to the regular BC.”

With summer ball quickly approaching, Corum’s injury status is great news for Wolverine fans. Alongside Corum, Michigan football is returning lots of elite talent for the 2023 season and will open the 2023 season as strong contenders for the national championship.
