Michigan football already has a quarterback commitment in the 2025 class from Carter Smith, and as I wrote the other day, the four-star dual-threat is perfect for the Wolverines.

Now, the focus is on the 2026 class. Quarterback recruiting tends to run on a different timeline. Michigan will want its 2025 quarterback in the fold by this winter or even next spring.

By this time next year, the Wolverines better have a 2026 quarterback committed or that can spell trouble. It’s been tough to parse who are the realistic targets on the quarterback board. There have been tons of offers but Brady Hart, a four-star out of Cocoa Florida is a name to watch.

Carter Smith has been recruiting him and after the offer in late April, Hart tells EJ Holland of The Wolverine that Michigan OC/QB coach Kirk Campbell has been in contact and that the two have “connected.”

“I’ve really connected with (Campbell) over these last couple of weeks. That offer was pretty special,” Hart said.

Where Michigan football stands with Brady Hart

The 6-foot-4, 180-pound pocket passer is ranked as the No. 95 overall recruit in the 2026 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings. He’s also the seventh-ranked quarterback and according to Holland, has scheduled an unofficial visit for June.

Since the Wolverines have offered, a bunch of other programs have too. Florida State and Miami are in the mix. Oregon just offered along with Penn State. Missouri and LSU too and most of these schools have offered within the past month.

Florida State and Miami have had him on campus the most. Yet, according to the On3 prediciton machine, Notre Dame is the leader. But the Irish are projected to land Noah Grubbs in the 2026 class, which should open the door for the Wolverines and others to push for Hart.

Brady Smigiel is another name to watch but Hart, who has the perfect name for a Michigan football quarterback, is another top target to keep a close eye on.
