Note: Michigan has since released a statement, claiming that Stalions resigned.
Today, following a meeting between Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti and U-M President Santa Ono this afternoon, ex-Michigan football staffer Connor Stalions has been fired. Of course, Stalions is under a lot of pressure right now from the NCAA and the media as he is at the heart of an alleged illegal sign-stealing ring that has taken the sports news cycle by storm.
Michigan football staffer Connor Stalions fired
Major news broke for the Michigan football program this evening, as the Wolverines have officially moved on from ex-staffer Connor Stalions. Stalions, who is at the heart of the NCAA’s investigation into alleged illegal sign-stealing methods, was a low-level staffer for the Michigan football program and was officially hired back in 2022.
Per all reports thus far, Connor Stalions appears to be the lone — or at least, the only heavily involved member — in Michigan’s alleged sign-stealing network. All reports state that ninth-year head coach Jim Harbaugh was unaware of the sign-stealing methods.
Last month, when the news first broke, Stalions was suspended with pay by the University of Michigan football program. Now, with mounting pressure from the media and having seen some of the NCAA’s findings, Stalions is officially no longer a Wolverine.
