ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Yesterday evening, the Michigan Wolverines took the field for the first time since the team’s crushing loss to TCU int he Fiesta Bowl. While the season remains a few months away still, the Michigan football spring game still drew a small in person crowd and a much larger television crowd, and the fans got their first glimpse of Jim Harbaugh’s 2023 roster. Michigan’s breakout wide receiver Peyton O’Leary spoke on the culture in the Wolverines’ locker room after the spring game ended.

If you didn’t watch the Michigan football spring game, there is a good chance that you have not heard the name Peyton O’Leary before. O’Leary is a rising junior with the Wolverines, and despite seeing limited playing time during the 2021 and 2022 seasons, he had a breakout performance in the spring game and could find himself a much larger role this fall. During Saturday’s game, O’Leary hauled in six catches for 126 yards, with a long of 34 yards — he led the Wolverines’ spring game in receptions and receiving yards.

After the spring game, Michigan’s breakout wide receiver had quite a bit of praise for the Wolverines’ locker room culture, which he claims is second to none. “The culture is really good,” O’Leary told the media on Saturday evening. “I’m best friends with everyone on the team, we’re all brothers. Coach Harbaugh always says that we’ll only go up from here, you know, either 14-1 or 15-0, so that’s the ultimate goal.”

The key to winning titles and sustaining success in college football is to establish an elite culture. Georgia has it, Alabama has it, and clearly, the Michigan Wolverines have it too.
