ANN ARBOR, Mich. — It is officially April now, and yesterday, for the first time in months, the Maize and Blue ran out of the tunnel and took the field at Michigan Stadium to give the fans’ their first look at this year’s team. Before the Wolverines’ spring game, there was a Michigan football NIL event at the Crisler Center, and Blue by Ninety’s Tyler Sakalys-Moore managed to catch a few memorable quotes from the team. Here are three must-read quotes that show just how locked in this squad truly is.

Blake Corum says to bet on UM at Michigan football NIL event

Michigan football star running back Blake Corum is not a betting man, but for those of you that are, he says to put you money on the Michigan Wolverines this year. “If I’m a betting man, I’m betting with us,” Corum told a rowdy crowd at the Crisler Center on Saturday morning.

Blake Corum is coming off of a Heisman Trophy-caliber season in 2022, though in week 12, he was sidelined due to a knee injury. Despite Corum’s injury, Michigan football went on to win 2/3 of its most important games: at Ohio State (45-23) and vs. Purdue for the Big Ten title (43-22). Heading into a new season this fall, Corum looks to stay healthy and lead Michigan football to its first national title in over 25 years.

Jim Harbaugh is happy with his Wolverines and excited for the season

For the past two seasons, Jim Harbaugh’s Michigan football team has been closer than almost anyone to winning a national championship. Since 2021, the Wolverines have compiled two Big Ten titles, two wins over Ohio State, two top-3 finishes, and two College Football Playoff appearances. Still, Michigan is yet to make a national title game, and will have their best chance yet at winning it all in 2023. For Harbaugh, he knows the time to strike is right now.

“Now is the best time to attack.” Jim Harbaugh said at the Michigan football NIL event on Saturday. “Strike while the iron is hot.”

Perfection is all that the Wolverines will accept, nothing more and nothing less

Kris Jenkins is a name that most Michigan football fans already know, but heading into the 2023 season, he will see a new role with the Wolverines. Jenkins has added some considerable weight and will now be filling in for Mazi Smith, a First Team All-Big Ten defensive tackle on last year’s roster that was known for his ability to clog running lanes. Jenkins is heading into his final season in Ann Arbor, and if you ask him, nothing less than perfection will do.

“15-0,” Jenkins stated. “Nothing short of that.”

Needless to say, this year’s Michigan football team is ready for the 2023 season, and will be on the hunt for a third-straight Big Ten title, the program’s first national title game appearance, and more.
