Former Michigan football head coach is now with the Los Angeles Chargers. But even in the NFL, Harbaugh is going to want to run the damn ball.

That’s who he is. Look at what his teams did at Stanford or San Francisco. People want to talk about the quarterbacks with the Niners, but Frank Gore and the offensive line were the heart and soul of those teams, along with the defense (sound familiar, Michigan football fans?).

So it should come as no surprise that Harbaugh is looking for a running back. Austin Ekeler, who was RB1 for the Chargers, was informed that he could test free agency. With several talented backs on the market, the Chargers can go that route, but running back is a young man’s position, which could be why a certain former Michigan football running back is now a heavy favorite to be drafted his his old head coach.

Chargers are a heavy favorite to draft Michigan football running back Blake Corum

Of course, we are talking about Blake Corum. The all-time Michigan football leader in touchdowns had a stellar performance at the combine. He ran a 4.53 in the 40, but notched 27 reps in the bench press the same as Notre Dame offensive lineman Joe Alt. Skip Bayless even compared Corum to Emmitt Smith.

That comparison makes a ton of sense. Corum took a few games to get going this season, but he was 100 percent by the end of it and showed it down the stretch. The dude is going to be elite at the next level and some team will get a good back from the jump in 2024.

Harbaugh knows better than anyone what Corum is capable of, so it makes sense that the Chargers are the betting favorite to draft the Michigan football legend. Their odds are +150. Next is Dallas at +850.

Corum is great and either team would be lucky to get him, but man it would be great to see two former Michigan football legends together again.
