Former Michigan football staffer Connor Stalions has found himself at the center of an investigation dating back to last season. After the NCAA officially delivered a Notice of Allegations against U-M, lawyers representing him have finally spoken.

“This investigation has been a witch hunt from Day One, intended to besmirch Michigan and Coach [Jim] Harbaugh,” Stalions’ lawyers Brad Beckworth and Nathan Hall said to The Athletic. “Connor is a scapegoat in the NCAA’s ongoing quest to show that it has a purpose in today’s sports world.”

Stalions’ lawyers argued that he did not violate any scouting rules as he was not present in the stands, adding: “The NOA says Connor’s friends and family sent hi film from games they attended with tickets Connor purchased, but there is no rule against that. [The] only ‘scouting’ that took place in this case happened on Michigan’s campus from behind Connor’s computer.”

While each party listed has 90 days to respond to the claim, Stalions plans to contest the allegations levied against him. His lawyers added that he has suffered enough and it is time for everyone to move on.

He made his first public comments on the matter in a Netflix documentary titled Untold: Sign Stealer, which released on Tuesday.
