Wednesday night, Michigan football landed 4-star defensive end Ted Hammond from St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati, OH. Hammond is the Wolverines’ fifth commit and fourth 4-star prospect in the 2024 class. Additionally, Hammond is Michigan’s second prospect from Ohio — a state that Harbaugh has been recruiting heavily over the past two years.

Now, it’s looking like Michigan football may be gunning for another Ohio prospect: 4-star offensive lineman Ben Roebuck.

Who is Ben Roebuck?

According to the Rivals Network, Ben Roebuck is a 4-star offensive lineman, the No. 9 player in Ohio, and the No. 21 offensive tackle in the 2024 class; he stands at 6-foot-7 and weighs in around 320 lbs. Roebuck comes from St. Edward High School in Lakeland, Ohio, and would be a massive addition to an already top-10 2024 recruiting class for Michigan.

According to the Rivals FutureCast and FanFutureFact, Roebuck is leaning towards committing to Jim Harbaugh and Co. — Roebuck will likely commit later this year during the spring or summer. Michigan’s offensive coordinator and offensive line coach, Sherrone Moore, is Roebuck’s primary recruiter right now.

What has Roebuck said about Michigan football

Per SB Nation/The Michigan Insider, here are some of Roebuck’s comments about his trips to Michigan.

“The visit went great,” Roebuck told Brice Marich of The Michigan Insider. “I got to watch film with coach Moore, meet a lot of the other recruits and I got to talk to coach Harbaugh a lot, which I haven’t really had the chance of doing before. Luke [Hamilton] and I got to talk a lot and strengthen our relationship, too.”

On Ohio prospects committing to Michigan football: “There’s definitely that feeling going around. It would be amazing if it were to come to fruition.”

Roebuck has not made a final call, though it still appears that Michigan football is in the lead. He would be a massive addition to Michigan’s 2024 class and could be a part of a future Joe Moore Award-winning offensive line, just as we have seen over the past two years in Ann Arbor, MI.
