Did Michigan football just land the next Roman Wilson?
This afternoon, Michigan football landed a new four-star wide receiver in the 2024 recruiting class. I’Marion Stewart — the newest Wolverine — is heading to Ann Arbor with tons of ambition and national title-caliber expectations for his college football days. Additionally, from what Stewart has to say, it sounds like the coaching staff wants him to be the next Roman Wilson.
In addition to having a similar frame as Wilson, the Michigan Wolverines’ new four-star wide receiver commit in the 2024 class appears to have a similar skillset as well. This combination of skills, size, speed, and lofty ambitions has national scouts and the Michigan football coaching staff comparing the new commit to long-time Michigan wide receiver Roman Wilson.
“So they compare me to Roman Wilson, so they show me lot of plays where they give him ball off the run, short pass game, deep pass game, show me how they get the ball in his hands,” I’Marion Stewart said, according to 247 Sports. “They have a lot of different ways to get the ball to him and let him make something happen and they match my skill set with his.”
As fans know quite well by now, Roman Wilson is one of JJ McCarthy‘s favorite Maize and Blue receiving targets, as shown in the 2022 season. While McCarthy may not be around by the time Stewart is wearing the winged helmet, the new four-star Michigan football commit will have a different five-star quarterback throwing passes to him: Jadyn Davis, who is currently competing in the Elite 11 finals out in LA.
If Stewart can step up and become the next Roman Wilson, the future of the Michigan football offense is unquestionably in great hands.
